Description of the Institution
The Chair for Regional Building and Urban Planning of Leibniz Universität Hannover concentrates research and teaching activities on architectural and urbanistic issues connected within a regional focus, and related to territorial balances, resiliences, and visions.
The Chair is part of the department of Urban Design and Planning of the faculty of Architecture and Landscape, and of the research initiative TRUST transdisciplinary and historical, rural and urban, spatial transformation and development.
Description of Competences – referring to the Project
The Chair for Regional Building and Urban Planning's focus in urbanism and architecture addresses rural-urban interfaces, building culture, vernacular intelligence, and rural areas; the experience of the Chair's researchers include projects with Technische Universität München (e.g. for AlpHouse with the Bavarian Chamber of Architects), and for other international projects.
LUH coordinates the cooperation of AlpBC with other EU programme areas (Baltic Sea); it collaborates for the implementation in the Alpine Space with the Bavarian Chamber of Architects. Besides the lead of WP 5 (conception of Energy Valleys, together with Regione del Veneto), LUH provides scientific expertise for the conception and network of AlpHouse Centers, for capitalisation and for the AlpHouse Symposia.
