Description of the Institution
The Urban and Landscape Department of the Veneto Region, is a Public Body with seat in Venice. It was established in 1972 and has almost 50 employees with a 2012 budget of about 3.5 Ml Euro. The department composed of 5 operative units (landscape and observatory, one-stop shop, urban planning, public private partnerships, administration). It exercises its administrative tasks in the Veneto Region on a territory of 7 Provinces and 581 Municipalities.
Description of Competences – referring to the Project
The Department of Urban and Landscape Planning is primarily concerned with the examination and approval of the urban planning instruments and with the definition of laws, regulations and technical specifications for their preparation. It supports municipalities and provinces to establish and manage their urban plans and provides financial support for the drafting of inter-municipal urban plans (PATI). The departement collects, manages and develops the spatial planning databases. Further it coordinates and approves strategic interventions of regional importance regarding the urban and suburban contexts (i.e. large infrastructure, interventions of urban regeneration, redevelopment of brown-field sites etc.). It is also in charge of issuing permits for the construction and operation of large RES power plants (PV and wind). Last but not least the departement manages the special laws for encouraging the use of renewable energy sources and improves the thermal performance of buildings.
